Before you apply
We would rather say it now than after an hour on the phone. A small roster only works if every artist on it is one we can genuinely help.
What changes
| Area | On your own | With Emberlight |
|---|---|---|
| Bookings | Chasing venues by email, guessing at fees | We pitch, agree the fee, send the contract and the day sheet |
| Releases | Upload and hope | A plan week by week, and pitches to press, radio and playlists in time |
| Money | Invoices in a spreadsheet, late payers | Invoices and reminders sent for you, every figure on your monthly report |
| Opportunities | Deadlines missed | Showcase and festival rounds tracked, applications started for you |
| Your time | Half of it on admin | On the music |
What it costs
Commission is 20 per cent of gross on most work. Touring is commissioned on what is left after its costs, so a tour that only breaks even costs you nothing. Recording budgets, tour support, session fees and deals you had before us are never commissioned.
Modern management
Bookings, diaries, release plans, follower numbers and money, live for every artist, with a written report each month. It is the same system other managers and agents now use, called The Desk.
The people
Every artist has one named manager, met on the first call, not after signing. Around the team: specialist music lawyers, accountants, agents and publishers, chosen for each artist.
Founder and Chief Executive · London and Amsterdam
Sets the strategy and the terms, and manages artists directly. Thirty years of building companies, and founder of Grant & Graham in 2009.
Director of Content, Social and Media · Cambridge
The plan for each artist’s channels, the content around releases and shows, and the relationship with press.
Commercial Lead
Bookings, partnerships and the deals that follow, and making sure what was agreed is what gets paid.
Research
Markets, venues, audiences and opportunities, so decisions about where an artist goes next are made on evidence.
Joining
No. Applying, the conversation and the 12 month plan are free. Commission only starts on work after you sign.
Three years, then it rolls on a year at a time with 90 days notice either way. Your website, contacts, dates and financial records are always yours.
On work set up while we managed you, it steps down from 20 to 10 to 5 per cent over three years, then stops. Nothing new after you leave is commissioned.
Yes. The roster runs from country folk pop to classical conducting and R&B. What matters is that we know who books and plays your kind of music.
Tell us what you are working on and where you want to be in five years. We read every application properly, and we reply to everyone, including when the answer is no.
